Replacement Direct Online Starter (DOL’s)

We replace any sized  DOL for domestic and commercial bore pump control.

Replacement contactors

If your bore is not starting or will not turn off, we can replace any contactor / relay.

Water bore start contactors wear out over time due to several factors, and can fail in two main ways: mechanically or electrically.

Mechanical Wear:

  • Arcing and Pitting: When the contactor switches on and off, the contacts spark slightly. Over time, this arcing can erode the metal contacts, leaving them pitted and uneven. This reduces their ability to make a good connection, leading to overheating and potential failure.
  • Sticking: The contactor mechanism can become stuck due to wear and tear, or even dirt and debris. This can prevent the contactor from switching off properly, which can damage the connected equipment (like a compressor) by leaving it constantly powered on.

Electrical Failure:

  • Burnt Coil: The coil within the contactor is an electromagnet that triggers the switching action. If the contactor is subjected to excessive current or high temperatures, the coil can burn out, rendering the contactor inoperable.
  • Insulation Breakdown: The insulation around the wires inside the contactor can degrade over time, leading to potential shorts and malfunctions.

These issues can cause various problems depending on the application. In the case of a water bore pump, a faulty contactor might lead to:

  • Reduced water pressure: If the contactor doesn't switch on properly, the pump won't run and the pressure tank won't fill.
  • Constant pump running: If the contactor gets stuck in the "on" position, the pump will run continuously, wasting energy and potentially damaging itself.
  • No power to the pump: A burnt-out coil or other electrical failure will completely prevent the contactor from functioning.

By replacing a worn-out contactor, you can ensure smooth operation of your bore pump and prevent potential damage to other components.

Controller replacement

We specialise in hard wired controller replacement. Why take the risk with an unqualified / unlicensed reticulation technician?

Weatherproof power point installation

If you need a power point for a reticulation timer we can install both single and double outlets.

Isolation switch installation

We install new and replacement bore / well isolation switches to ensure that your bore is legal and safe.

Float switch installation

If you have a low flow bore and need a storage tank, we can install high and low level float switches to control bore operation.

A float switch works to detect the level of water in a tank by using a float, magnet, and reed switch system that automatically opens and closes when water levels rise and fall inside the tank.

Basically a float switch works by opening and closing dry contacts. Once the dry contacts are opened or closed, they send an electrical signal to a pump start contactor or relay.

Shared bore electrical connections

We can take care of all the necessary wiring requirements to share a bore installation between two or more households giving each property independent watering control. Power can only be supplied by one property.

Our Bore Specialist Electrician will connect the pump to the power supply of the property that the bore is located on.

He will then arrange to connect the pump start wires from the property / properties sharing the bore to respective hour meters and interlocked contactors.

The pump can be controlled independently by each property connected to it. Whenever the reticulation controllers turn on the reticulation for either property, the hour meter measures the duration that the shared property runs the pump.

The average cost to run a submersible pump for one hour a day on each allocated watering day is approximately $35 per year.
