Driveway Drilling Success – Navigating Limited Site Access
Due to restricted site access, the only viable location for drilling was within the existing driveway. With property walls enclosing the area, our team carefully assessed the layout and proceeded with a well-planned bore installation.
Straightforward Drilling Conditions
The drilling process went smoothly. Our experienced team encountered predictable Perth strata, including:
- Bassendean Sand
- 3 metres of coffee rock
- Quartz sand dunes
- Guildford Clay
Coffee rock is a compacted, brownish soil layer that forms when iron oxides and organic matter leach through the soil and then reprecipitate near the water table. It is a common formation on Perth’s Swan Coastal Plain.
Water Quality & Pump Selection
This bore recorded a groundwater salinity of 375 mg/L TDS, indicating fresh water with low iron-staining risk. The pH is slightly acidic, which is typical for shallow bores in this region.
Based on the bore construction and reticulation layout, we recommend either a Calpeda 4SDP07 or Lowara 4GS07single-phase submersible pump. Both models deliver around 63 litres per minute at peak efficiency, ideal for medium to large garden irrigation.
